I have been in involved in natural therapies for over 25 years studying and gaining qualification
in a number of healing therapies. Since an early
age I have had a deep interest in looking for ways to enhance performance in all areas of life and
have explored many different practices and schools of thought, covering body, mind and spirit, that
would allow me to be more of what I was capable of being and experience life more
fully.

While my interest in health has been life long, a period of time in my late teens,
early 20's, would prove to be pivotal in helping me end up where I am today. For a period of 2-3 years I had
recurrent episodes of debilitating back pain. On average I would lose about 2-3 months per year of general activity
because of back pain. I was fit and healthy but my back pain defied most attempts at treatment and
therapy.
Eventually I found an acupuncturist (which in the 70's in Sydney were not that
easy to find let me tell you) who not only had me walking out of his clinic pain free and able to dress myself
without help, but over time "fixed" my problem. It wasn't the complete fix as there were some postural issues and
some muscle weakness and imbalance that came to light during this time that needed to be addressed and took time to
repair (via Osteopathy). But without fail if I was bent over in pain barely able to walk I would inevitably walk
out pain free ready and able to get on with things.
After these experiences it was inevitable that at some point I would learn more about
acupuncture. Eventually I got there in 1995 studying for 4 years in Sydney and then an internship in China before
graduating in 1999.
Over the years I have studied Naturopathy, Hypnosis, various forms of massage and
body work (including remedial massage, sports massage, kinesiology, myofascial release, Bowen Therapy) Traditional
Chinese Medicine (TCM), Acupuncture & EFT
My practice today is primarily about relieving pain. In my opinion based on many
years of studying and practice, and obviously my personal severe back pain experience, acupuncture provides the
most effective, quick, and safe way to find relief from pain. It is because of this personal experience, on both
ends of the needle, and the track record of acupuncture dating back thousands of years, that I choose now to
specialise in acupuncture for pain.
However, my belief is that as a health practitioner while most people come to me for
help and relief from their current pain or dysfunction that is really only half of my job. While helping people
eliminate their current back pain or digestive problem, for example, is obviously important optimum health and well
being requires a bigger picture perspective not just of what's happening now and why but also of how we want to
feel and how we want our experience of life in the future to be.
While relief from their pain is why people come to see me, creating sufficient change
and healing within the body/mind so the condition doesn't come back is obviously the goal and where I draw on my
other training and skills to help my clients.
